Budget Cuts

This cartoon was llustrated y Chuck Asay. This toon shows people coming to and from planned parenthood. The artist was oviously biased to cuts that included cutting the program because it shows people crying instead of showing them with looks of satisfaction. the theme is simple "I know we need to cut government spending...but where?" The program costs about 350 million dollars. The artist feels this could be cut, rather than probing the defense budget or elderly prorgrmas. The way it is illustrated here, the prorgram is useless yet waste of money.

The Evolution of Trump

This political toon named "The Evolution of Candidate Donald Trump," was created by Daryl Cagle from MSNBC. This toon depicts who we once thought of as a genius when it came to making money and handling business shrinking down to a mere animal (monkey, mouse?). During his verbal attacks he accused Obama of not being a legal citizen of America and continues to play the same card that ask where his birth certificate is. at this rate, Trump's one-not trumpet will cost him in a mjor way if he sincerely plans to run for president.

Democracy Mummy

This toon shows an archeologist coming across a body-- the body of democracy in Libya.
Democracy in Egypt has not only already died; it was mummified years ago and has now crumbled to dust. Presumably, the street protests were completely useless. The cartoon is a symbol of what was thought to be a useless cause. For so many years, Egypt was without a democracy; rioting proabably wouldn't have done much to change things. Even if they got their way, would they know how to live in a democratic system?

Wha's Obama Hiding?

This toon is pretty obvious. But what isn't obvious is Obama's motives behind his moves according to this toon. It shows the president taking a lie detector test and failing. Obama ran his race with lots of promises, change being the most prominent. But the American people just don't see this. More and more people disagree with his actions and motives yet look to him to solve the financial woes of the country. his plans for healthcare upset everyone and many who are a little ignorant to the situation question our involvement in Libya. Some say "it's none of our business," and Obama needs to make his plans clear.

Gas Hike

The price of gas increased in February and is even higher now. The national average price was $3.56 a gallon on Tuesday, up 13.7 percent, from a month earlier, according to the AAA's Daily Fuel Gauge. Rising demand for oil in fast-growing emerging economies such as China and India has caused a boost in prices in recent months. Turmoil in Libya, Egypt and other Middle Eastern countries has also played a part in the price of gas' ascent. However, economists expect the earthquake in Japan to lower oil prices for the next month or two, which should temper increases in wholesale prices in coming months. Japan is a big oil consumer, and its economy will suffer in the aftermath of the quake. But as the country begins to rebuild later this year, the cost of oil and other raw materials, such as steel and cement, could rise.
Oil prices fell sharply Tuesday as fears about Japan's nuclear crisis intensified. Oil dropped $4.01, or 4 percent, to settle at $97.18 per barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange.

Unisex dress code in Iran?

Political Cartoon: Iran University Unisex Dress Code
Iran has enforced a stricter Islamic dress code at numerous universities. This includes a ban on female students wearing long nails, bright clothes and tattoos.
The new rules ban women from "wearing caps or hats without scarves, tight and short jeans, and body piercing,"
It said tattoos, long nails, tooth gems, tight overcoats, and bright clothes were also banned.
Iran has been waging a country-wide campaign against Western cultural influences. Under Islamic law imposed after the 1979 revolution, women have to cover their hair in public and wear long, loose-fitting clothes.
The new code also bans male students from dying their hair, plucking eyebrows, wearing tight clothes, shirts with "very short sleeves" and jewelry.

Mubrak Time-Up

"Mubarak Time-Up. This describes the current environment of Egypt and it's ruler being impeached. The president of Egypt of thirty years is literally losing time as ruler. this relates to the chaos that has plagued Egypt and sister countries for the past few weeks. The cartoonist is probably on the side of the protestors that are against him because he shows him as a cruel looking person. his appearance looks angry, stubborn, and unwelcoming. some would definately say he is like tat in real life.
